Etiquettes of naming

Is it okay for someone to call themselves اﻟﺠﺒﺎر? Like my name is Abdul Muqsit Jabar, I like the name ﻣﻘﺴﻂ (Muqsit) on its own. Is there a problem as long as it’s not اﻟﻤﻘﺴﻂ?

Answer: ﺑﺴﻢ اﷲ اﻟﺮﺣﻤﻦ اﻟﺮﺣﯿﻢ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful There are certain names which are exclusive to Allah ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ, e.g Al- Jabbar (that being whose will is enforced upon the whole creation, and the will of the creation is not enforced upon him); it is not permissible for a human being to use such a name for himself. As for naming one’s child with a shared name (e.g. Rahim [merciful], Muqsit [just], etc.), i.e. those names which apply to Allah ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ and to human beings (obviously possessing a different meaning when referring to Allah ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ), it is permissible regardless of whether Alif Laam (ال) was prefixed or not. However, if one’s parents named him Abdul Muqsit, then people address him with the name “Muqsit”, it is makrooh (disliked).1
